Calligraphy addressing on envelopes

I was thrilled to once again do calligraphy addressing of these envelopes for my clients darling photo Christmas cards.

The photography and card design are by the very talented Angela Weedon of Angela Weedon Photography.

The lettering is my “whimsy” style. It has a simple modern feel. It will be made into a font eventually:)

I love lettering in white on a color. It just looks so fresh!

I’m still getting back into “work mode” after having a lovely holiday with both of my sons at home and lots of fun visits from friends and family.

One big announcement for the new year…I’m finally opening an Etsy Shop! I will start selling my fonts there. We’ll see what else evolves.

I have plans to release at least 2 more fonts this year. Of course you’ll hear all about it as they progress.

Custom Calligraphy on Wine Glasses

These wine glasses with custom calligraphy were given as gifts by my client. Now that the holiday is over, I can finally share pics with you.

The bottoms were painted in yellow and black.

The word “believe” ( get it “bee-lieve:) was hand lettered on the body of the glass.

Then bees were painted with a flight path of black dots to link to the word. ( Most fun part!)

And of course one of them was chosen as “queen bee” with a gold crown on her head:)

Table Numbers and Place Cards in Calligraphy fonts

I was creating some samples for a potential client and thought I’d share these Table Numbers and Place Cards in my calligraphy fonts.

In the pic above I used my cursive font, Dom Loves Mary Stylistic version. The flourish on the capital T was created using a flourish from the Dom Loves Mary Flourishes Two set.

I used Dom Loves Mary text font for “TABLE 12” on the place card.

And in this pic, I’ve used my Belluccia font and Borders.

Here’s an example using Hand lettering. Using a Calligraphy font gives you the beautiful look of hand lettering at a fraction of the cost.

That’s why I created them!

With either Belluccia or Dom Loves Mary, you can easily design all of your event signage and print off your own computer.

DIY Advent Tree for kids

Today I am sharing this darling Advent Calendar Tree with you.

The idea came from the lovely Mindy Rives, mom of two beautiful little girls. Instead of the traditional candy treat, each day is filled with a fun Christmas activity for your kids/family to participate in.

Here’s what Mindy did to create this tree for about $15.00 minus the tree:

1. She ordered the number printables off of Etsy (they were like $3.50)…printed, cut and glued them on miniature treat bags/envelopes from Michaels.

2. She bought mini clothes pins from Michael’s, tied bows around each one with red ribbon, filled each envelope with a Christmas activity and hung them on their smaller kitchen tree.

3. She came up with a list of activities that worked with her schedule. ( Mindy works 2 days a week. She is one of the lovely gals I get to work with at DFW Events🙂

She kindly gave me her list to share with you in a PDF file. Just click on Advent Activities .

4. She purchased supplies in advance for any craft projects. ( Michael’s is another great source for this.)

So far, her daughter has thoroughly enjoyed each day’s special activity.

I think this is a wonderful way to teach children about the spirit of Christmas:)

Calligraphy Seating Chart

I recently had the pleasure of creating a Calligraphy Seating Chart for a wedding.
I always love to see the process of something coming together. So I thought I’d share mine with you.
First it starts with a pencil layout. This type of project requires a great deal of layout as it is 22″ x 28″ and has 4 rows of 20-22 names.

So here’s my layout sheet. I’ve also played with the bride and groom’s names at the top. Although I ended up changing the design a little.

Now it’s time to start using pen and ink to fill in the names and header. Here is a pic showing one column of names done and part of the second. I’m working closely from the typed list, blocking the names below the one I’m working on to avoid mistakes in spelling.

Since the names were listed alphabetically, the way the names broke up left a larger space at the bottom of the third column. This is the perfect opportunity to add a little illustration to the piece.

Because I laid everything out in advance, I was prepared for this and had created a design that fit nicely.

Here is the finished piece mounted on foam core. It was then placed in a 22″ x 28″ frame for presentation at the wedding.

Wedding Program and Place cards on Wedding Chicks blog

It’s always fun to spot my cursive font Belluccia used in a beautiful way.

This wedding program and place card design were seen recently on the Wedding Chicks blog. They were both designed by Julie Goette of TenFourPaper.

I fell in love with the colors and venue of this wedding in St. Louis.

The blush pink and white flowers looked so light and beautiful.

For the tables, the bride and groom named each one for a special neighborhood or landmark in St. Louis and New York.

Then each person at the table had a different smaller picture as a keepsake. Cool idea!

Free Printable Place Cards in Calligraphy font: Gratitude

Today I have one word for you. Gratitude.

It’s how I start and end my day.

Since Thanksgiving is only 2 days away, I wanted to share some “Gratitude” with you in thanks for your encouragement, support and kindness.

I’ll be using these as place cards on my Thanksgiving table.

They’re made using my Dom Loves Mary font.

Just right click to download and print as many as you need. Then cut on the trim marks.

There’s space to put a name underneath.

Don’t worry about your hand writing:)

I’m attaching mine to toothpicks with a glue gun and sticking in a pear that will go on the plate.

Especially on Thanksgiving, I hope you have good food to eat and good company to keep.

I hope you let your worries rest for a time and just enjoy being.

And I hope your heart is filled with thanks for the big and small things that surround you.

In addition to my husband Michael and my sister Ann who lives near me, my sister Diane will be here from Michigan!

My son Alex is home from school and though we’ll miss my son Nick, he assures me he’ll be gathering with friends in D.C.

And me? I’ll be spending the day smiling in gratitude:)

Free Giveaway Chalkboard Sign: Just Married

Today’s Free Printable Chalkboard sign is….drum roll please:) Just Married!

If you want to enlarge this sign to fit on the back of a car or truck (or wherever) FedEx Kinko’s can enlarge it to the desired size.

They can also laminate it and/or back it with foam core to stabilize it.

Or if you’re feeling crafty, have an enlarged print made and cut out the letters to make a stencil.

Be sure to leave some pieces of paper connected to each other in totally enclosed areas so it doesn’t create a space where you don’t want it to be. For instance, in the big loop of the “M”.

Purchase an aerosol can of Marking Chalk (normally used for sports fields) from Ace Hardware or Dick’s Sporting Goods. Or colored Spray Chalk at a place online like Toolup.com.

Use the sign as a stencil to temporarily place the saying on the concrete or grass at a location where guests can see it!

I haven’t tried this yet but have seen it done online. I’ll try to find and post tomorrow.
